The second of ten paintings for my M.F.A. thesis, An Illustrative Exploration of Birds of Prey in History and Culture.
Barn owls are one of the most beneficial creatures found around farms, due to their expertise at catching small rodents which can damage crops.
These silent hunters are even valued by some farmers, and special doors have been built in the side of barns to encourage them to nest.
